Dr. Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan is currently serving as head of Nuclear Engineering (NE) Department and as the senior most professor in the department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE), faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET). He was former head (EEE), dean (ECE) and director (IET) in CUET. After the secondary & higher secondary education from Sylhet Cadet College (SCC), he achieved the bachelor degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE) from CUET (Former BIT, Chittagong) and master’s degree from Universiti Technologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia and completed his PhD on development of CdTe thin film solar cells from the department of Electrical, Electronic & Systems Engineering (EE&SE) of the National University of Malaysia [@ Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)]. He received many government and non-government scholarships throughout his education. Just after completing his BSc. Engg. in EEE he joined as a lecturer in EEE, CUET in October 1996 after that he was promoted to assistant professor in February 2000 and associate professor in January 2012. Finally, Dr. Mahmud joined as a full professor in June 2013 in EEE at CUET, still then he has been working as a professor and in charge of the Renewable Energy Laboratory (REL) of EEE at CUET. His areas of expertise include Energy Conversion, Renewable Energy Resources, Alternative Energy, Electrical Machines, Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Technology, Solar Cells, PV Systems, Microelectronics, Optical Devices (Couplers, Switches & OADM), All Optical Networks (AON, FTTH), and High Density Optical Switches, Electronic Devices, and Solar PV development. Now he is working towards the design, modeling, simulation and implementation of high performance solar PV cells and promotion of renewable energy in Bangladesh. He has been involved as the project-leader as well as co-researcher of many government and international funded projects. He was keynote speaker in many seminars related to Renewable Energy, Alternative Energy, Solar Photovoltaic Technology, and Solar PV Cells. Have editorial contributions to review for proceedings in conferences and many academic journals. He has developed the Renewable Energy Lab (REL) of CUET funded by World Bank where fabrication facility of thin films and complete solar cells has been established in 2016. From this REL seven MSc. Engineering degree and two PhD degree were awarded and many others are on progress under him. He has authored about 127 peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings. He has been involved in promoting renewable energy in Bangladesh and recently working as an enthusiastic promoter for the affordable renewable energy, solar PV technology and solar PV development research activities.
