About Myself

Tafsirul Hassan is an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), a role he has held since December 19, 2024. Previously, he served as a lecturer in the same department from July 17, 2022, to December 18, 2024.

He earned his B.Sc. (May 2021) and M.Sc. (June 2023) in Mechanical Engineering from CUET. Before joining the faculty, he worked as a research assistant in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at CUET from September 30, 2021, to June 30, 2022, where he contributed to research on sustainable and carbon-neutral energy technologies.

His research focuses on the decarbonization of internal combustion engines through the use of sustainable fuels, including biofuels, e-fuels, green hydrogen, biohydrogen, and ammonia. His current work explores decarbonization strategies and ultra-low emission solutions for compression ignition engines, with an emphasis on Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition (RCCI) combustion using hydrogen, investigated through computational fluid dynamics simulations.

He is the recipient of the DRE Research Project Award (2025–2026) as Principal Investigator for the project “Decarbonizing diesel engines with biomass-derived hydrogen: Gasification and combustion studies,” funded by the Directorate of Research and Extension (DRE), CUET (Grant Amount: BDT 0.5 million). He also contributed as a team member to the HEAT Project—Window 2, Academic Transformation Fund, awarded by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the World Bank (Total Grant Amount: BDT 50 million).

Beyond his research and teaching responsibilities, Tafsirul Hassan actively contributes to the academic community as a peer reviewer for several high-impact journals, including Applied Energy, Industrial Crops and Products, Heliyon, Energy Reports, Alexandria Engineering JournalEnvironmental Progress & Sustainable Energy, Journal of Engineering, Fuel Communications, and others. He is also a member of the editorial board of Transport, Mobility & Society.
