About Myself

G. M. Sadiqul Islam is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology (CUET), where he has dedicated the past 20 years to the study and research on concrete and structures. His leadership has been pivotal in shaping CUET, having held key positions such as Head of the Departments of Architecture, Water Resources Engineering, and Disaster Engineering and Management, as well as Chairman of the Center for Environmental Science and Engineering Research.

Prof. Islam's academic achievements are distinguished by prestigious accolades. He earned a PhD from the University of Dundee, UK, in 2012, funded by the Dorothy Hodgkin Postgraduate Award from the Research Councils, UK. He also holds a Master's degree from Hokkaido University, Japan, obtained in 2009 with the Monbukagakusho scholarship. As a Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), Prof. Islam actively participates in several international professional organizations, including the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), ASTM International, and the International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems, and Structures (RILEM).

Over the past two decades, he has conducted over 20 research projects collaborating with institutions and industries in Japan, the UK, India, and various national entities. A prolific researcher, Prof. Islam has published 65 technical papers in international journals and conference proceedings. He has received best paper awards at ICCESD 2020 and 2022, as well as ICACE 2021. He regularly reviews and serves on the Editorial Board for several esteemed international journals. His conference involvement includes serving as the Conference Secretary for the 2nd ICACE in 2014 and as a session chair at various international conferences. Prof. Islam has supervised ten postgraduate students and guides 12 postgraduate students and research assistants.
